Tell the story
When submitting an application, it is obvious to also communicate the project to others (media, networks, newsletters, communities etc.). Whether the application is accepted or not, such external communication will point to who you are and what you want to achieve with the project, which can benefit you and the project in the long run. For most funds, publicity is something they appriciate. You should also consider that telling the story and getting people to listen to a large extent further contributes to ensuring the wider attention and support of your own network.
